Eric grew up in Bristol, VT, with his entire family. He had grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all living on the same country road. From this ideal setting, he learned the importance of family and community. He saw the value in hard work, perseverance, and integrity. These standards have governed him in both his personal and professional life.

In 1989, he turned his attention to a new endeavor, construction. Eric and a small two-man crew began offering roofing and renovation services to those in the Bristol area.  As his reputation for quality and professionalism grew, so did the demand for his services. The small operation quickly developed into a full-service, residential, and commercial construction company, now serving the entire state of Vermont.

In 2019, Friend Construction moved into a new facility in East Middlebury. Eric completely gutted and renovated the previous building. He created a welcoming and professional workplace and shop. The expansion has allowed for a fast-paced construction schedule and tailoring of services.

This expansion has also allowed for a better work-life balance. Many evenings, you will find Eric tinkering in the shop and working on the Friend Construction Race Car. The weekends are full of family functions. With five children and nine grandchildren, the blessings are abundant.

Eric is very grateful for the opportunities to share his good fortune with others. He has worked with Habitat for Humanity in helping to provide housing for those in need. He supports Bristol and Middlebury High School athletics. He contributes to charitable associations. Also, he donates and supports the church. He fully appreciates that his privileges are made possible by stellar customers and a supportive community.
